Video of our customer replacing the screen on their HP ELITEBOOK 840 G6

Tools

For the replacing process we will need the following tools: a plastic pick, tweezers and a screw driver

Shut down the lapotp

To begin turn the laptop off and disconnect the power cord

Remove the bezel

Start removing the bezel. The bezel is held in place by tabs and the glue along the inner edge. Using
plastic pick pry off the bezel on the inner edge. Start from the left side and move around the perimeter.
Using both hands start unsnapping the tabs underneath the bezel. Go along the perimeter. Close the
laptop and and turn it over. Using the same plastic pick release the bezel at the bottom of the screen.
Remove the bezel

Remove four screws

The LCD screen is held in place with screws in four corners. Using Phillips screwdriver remove the
screws. Place the screen on the keyboard

Disconnect the screen

Peel off the tape securing the video connector. Using plastic pick open the connector’s bracket.
Disconnect the video cable

Transfer metal plates

Remove the screen and place it on the desk top. We need to transfer two metal plates with brackets
onto the new screen. Using plastic pick separate the plates. Normally we would use adhesive strips to
glue the plates onto the new screen. But in our case the glue is still working. Place the first plate onto
the side of the screen and apply some pressure. Attach the second plate

Connect the new screen

Place the new screen on the keyboard. Reconnect the video connector. Close the connector’s bracket.
Secure it with a clear tape. Lift the screen up. Now we can test the new screen. Turn the laptop on

Install the new screen

Replace four Phillips screws in the corners

Replace the bezel

Pull the hinge cover away from the screen to make room for the bezel. Replace the bezel. Press firmly
to snap tabs back in place. Go around the perimeter. Close the laptop and make sure the bezel in
snapped in the bottom of the screen.

Turn the laptop on and we are done!
